Website: Linktree itch.io I pride myself on being adept at a multitude of areas in games design. I have experience in various areas such as concept, UX (user experience) design, 3D modelling, and programming! I have worked with game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine 4 & 5, to make projects both for the university as well as GameJam winning games, in addition to my own projects. Throughout my time at the University of Cumbria I have become proficient in programs such as Adobe Photoshop, 3DS Max, Substance Painter, 3D Substance Stager, and have a base level understanding of Blender (3D Modelling). I have excelled when I have overseen projects and worked in a leadership role with my colleagues to design games as an assignment. I entered the 2023 and 2024 UOC GameJam competition and won the “Best Game” award both years, and in both I was able to fully invest myself in the projects and see a concept grow into a playable product. I would like to see myself working alongside other great artists and developers, learning the key skills in the industry, and in the future learn enough to lead my own projects. FMP Synopsis For my Final Major Project, I am creating an Action based "Marble Shooter" game called "Plouton". The game is set within Greek Mythology and is aimed at both a casual and experienced gaming audience, the game provides a good challenge, and is an original new take on the Marble Shooter genre. Taking inspiration from games such as "Zuma" and "Luxor" and combining the core gameplay with elements from Tower Defense games, Plouton will put players multi-tasking skills to the test! |

Hi, I’m Dan, I’ve been gaming since i was really young, and I’ve been drawing since then too. I like to draw a variety of things, but I always drew in pencil, up until A levels where I started using alcohol markers. Then towards the end of A level I got a PC and started digital drawings. Doing more drawing on my PC and of course gaming on itpiqued my interest in Game Design and more specifically character design. I’ve always had an interest in tattoos as well. I spent my GCSEs and most of my A levels looking into tattoos, their history and drawing them. My Final Major Project is a true combination of all my personal interests, and I’ve enjoyed bringing all of them together. FMP Synopsis My project is an art book containing tattoo designs based on video games. |

Website Ey Up! Doodling turned to college graphic design (blame Plastiboo & Craig Gleason!), sparking my love for UI & game design - the perfect blend of art and gaming! I design for impact, not just looks. The creative industry really is booming now, and I want to use my skills to make a splash (awards are cool too!). My team crushed the 2024 Game Jam with "Floppy PONG"! Year 3 was all about "Perjury," an incredibly shouty social deduction game. Now, I'm building Moribund, a world full of weird charm, delightfully flavourful frozen treats and a whole host of downright horrifying creatures. (Intrigued? There's more I promise!) I'm a self-starter who learns by doing, fails forward (it happens!), and loves feedback. I'm a team player with killer time management and a bucket load of creativity. Plus, I experiment - clay, painting, even 3D software! Keeps my skills sharp and ideas flowing. When I'm not creating, you'll find me with a non-fiction book, lost in a game, jamming to tunes, or taking a mind-clearing walk. I am a passionate artist ready to bring my skills to game design! Let's chat about your project (and maybe Moribund!). FMP Synopsis "Moribund" is an artbook. It stands to be a pure act of world-building highly inspired by old dungeon crawler games. Essentially it could be considered an official guide to a game that doesn't exist! |

Artstation I am a Games Design graduate from the University of Cumbria and specialise in environmental concept art. I have always loved video games, but what inspired me to study games design was Stardew Valley. Eric Barone created the game by himself with nothing but hard work and determination, this is as a goal for my own practice. My major project “Eventide Glade” showcases how far my skills have come and how I’m willing to learn and grow, it demonstrates my unique art style and imagination process. During two group projects I stepped out of my comfort zone to learn how to blueprint in Unreal, with this I also took on a leadership role to get assets in time and help group members where I could. Following my education, I plan to go into teaching whilst taking online courses for coding. I hope to gain the skills to create my own Indie games in the future, whilst looking for like-minded teams to join. I invite you to come and see my work in our showcase to see where imagination can take you. For more on my projects and career aspirations, please contact me at jjobberart@gmail.com or see my portfolio at www.artstation.com/jjobberart. FMP Synopsis Eventide Glade is a concept for a farming/city-building simulation game. I have developed some environmental art to showcase the art style and buildings that will be used. |

I During my time at the University of Cumbria, I have found a deep passion for 3D modelling and have focused my learning on the 3D model workflow. The creation of 3D models was difficult at first, but 3D modelling became such a fun experience to experiment with and being in the cycle of creating visuals that would be of a higher standard than the models I had created before. 3D environments and games have always fascinated me when I was a child and now. The ability to go anywhere and see details that the developer had put so much time into had always made it feel special way of expressing art. From many different art styles, such as gritty realism to cartoony, it felt like getting lost in someone’s story, as it literally is the world you walk into. I plan on continuing my 3d modelling, in whatever career it takes me. After university, I would like to do research, and produce my own work of, models in different art styles. I want to continue expanding my knowledge on 3D modelling to create work that wows audiences. You can reach me at aarkerwin@gmail.com FMP Synopsis Weapons throughout the ages. I have modelled, unwrapped and textured weapons from the Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, WW2 and modern times. I picked these time periods as they all have fascinating weapons that were created for the different tides that battle brought in their respective time periods. |

Artstation Website I’ve always loved drawing and creating characters ever since I was a child. I’ve spent 20+ years honing my creative skills through designing characters and crafting their backstories purely out of passion and for my own fulfilment. Growing up, some of my fondest memories stem from watching my brother play horror video games like Resident Evil 3, Dead Space, Alan Wake and Silent Hill; Homecoming. I remember thinking the monster designs in all these games were incredibly captivating. I especially adored how the artists behind the Silent Hill games were able to design monsters that were symbolic of certain feelings or concepts. I found I liked horror games more so than other genres as they often contained complex narratives which held my interest. I’ve tried to incorporate all these concepts into my own work ever since. During my teenage years I was introduced to Anime and Manga, which heavily impacted my current art direction and style. This also kickstarted my interest in the fantasy genre. One of my biggest aspirations while I was at school was to become a Mangaka or animator. However, now that I’m older, I’ve concluded that becoming a concept artist is the career path I want to pursue the most. FMP Synopsis That is why for my Final Major Project I have created an Artbook around a hypothetical horror game by the name of Whispering Mirror. The project focuses heavily on the development of both character and creature designs. This ranges from sketches, silhouettes, and colours, right through to showcasing the final design. Annotations are also present throughout the pages to reveal my thought process as I worked on the designs and why certain steps were taken. The story itself follows a humanoid moth by the name of Glass being lured into a stretch of forest by an eldritch entity that feeds on emotions. Their fears, doubts and insecurities have been given monstrous form and are relentless in their attempts to ensnare her within the constraints of the ever-warping woodland. |

Website Art Station Ever since I have picked up a pencil at a young age. I fell in love with Art. It all started with a simple Dragon. Since then, Art for me transformed into addictive pass time and later into something I want to pursue as my future career. I want to share the same magical moment I felt when I saw "How to Train Your Dragon" made by DreamWorks. To become an inspiration and share the same feelings throughout my Artworks as well. Furthermore, I have been honing my skill set and creating designs for projects of my own, delivering designs to clients or drawing fanarts. All of this, for the goal of becoming a freelancer and hopefully one day into the big industry! FMP Synopsis My final major project is a personal project that I started before entering University. It is a passion project of mine showcasing different concepts belonging to a world called Apeiron. "In this world, life is represented by the Ebb and Flow of Alkí. Naked to the eye, it is constantly flowing through all of creation ensuring everything is balanced. When death arrives, everything returns to the flow of Alkí and yet again the circle of life continues." Both the characters and the endemic life belonging to Apeiron will be represented with numerous concept designs and lore related to them. Drawings that contain small stories for the viewers to imagine. This project will be the accumulation of everything that I have learned throughout my time at the University! |

Artstation Website Deviant Art My primary skills and areas of expertise as a game designer are initial ideas, concept art and designs mainly for characters and outfits, UX/UI designs. I adapt very easily and quickly to any program or workflow and teamwork. Being a hard worker and somewhat of a perfectionist, I always want to make sure that I can deliver the best work through consistent feedback and touch-ups. My main techniques when it comes to concept and design work have been noting rough ideas on a page, then trying out different concepts, then selecting what I should move forward with in that concept and developing that aspect further. Projects I am most pleased about have been ones in which I was able to work closely with other artists, and with other creators. During the 2024 University of Cumbria GameJam my team was able to win the "Best Game" award, in which I worked alongside my colleagues in a rush to produce something fun and interesting, I also found that I had a lot of enjoyment when designing board games, which I had done as part of one of my assignment modules. FMP Synopsis My Final Major Project is a printed artbook containing world building and concept designs for a new fantasy world. Within my concepts I have designed different creatures and nations as well as some early sketches of a few deities worshipped by the inhabitants of this ethereal world. I feel more than achieved with the amount of time and work I did for this project the final show as this entire concept and world turned out to become something I wanted to do for over 8 years. Inspirations I got for this world building and concepts are a wide variety, yet the most important mentions are Avatar the film series, Final Fantasy XIV Online and The Elder Scrolls Online. |
