BA(Hons) Film & tv |
The University of Cumbria are proud to present this exhibition of work from our graduating class of 2022 on the BA (Hons) Film & TV course.
These students have shown an enthusiasm and dedication to practice and project and have refused to allow the limitations of the last couple of years to stifle their creativity. This work demonstrates an energy and passion that has allowed them to thrive under difficult and challenging production circumstances. They have capitalized on opportunities and worked hard to present what you see in this exhibition; this screening of work shows a determination that will hopefully see them have every success in industry, and in everything they chose to do professionally post-graduation. We hope you enjoy the show and join us in congratulating them on all they have achieved on the course. The Film & TV academic team |
I have always enjoyed stories, films and TV and from a young age I was always fascinated with how they were created and how they came into being from idea to full production. Throughout my years in education, I have studied media and found that I love to be at the heart of the filming, and editing, and behind the scenes in all aspects of production. I hope to continue to professionally work on productions, building on my skills in cinematography and editing, making films beyond the course while continuing to be a vital part of a production team.

Website My work reflects the things that I enjoy most in life, and I want to be able to express my love for these things in my own, meaningful way.
Music is one of my greatest passions. Songs with a story inspire me, and I wanted to be able to tell these stories across the visual medium of film. The opportunity to bring something I love to life means a lot, and I hope it says a lot about me as a filmmaker. The work I have produced defines my passions. I will hopefully continue to do this for as long as I am able, allowing my passions to grow stronger and help me build on my achievements. |

As a student filmmaker I have volunteered for every opportunity in which I could challenge my ideas and skills. I have worked on my volunteer projects and through these have made the most of my student experiences and life. I am a proud student ambassador and hope to continue my volunteering as well as continuing to improve my skills, create films and become the professional filmmaker I have always wanted to be. |

Website I come from an artistic background, previously studying Graphic Design and Photography in particular. My interest in cinematography and production design has become a lot more focused since joining the degree and is something I take particular enjoyment in, and developed into specializing in experimental film and surreal, landscape photography. I love being able to build different ideas and designs from nothing using a range of colors, lights and composition and I like to take risks experimenting unafraid if they go wrong. Experimental films offer opportunities to explore many assorted styles and themes that I incorporate into my ideas for my films. Keeping faith in my ideas has given me the confidence to make the films I have. The chance to freely create abstract pieces with my own unique, cinematic voice.

My personal filmmaking journey began as a child watching movies and wondering how they created the things I saw on the screen – I was addicted to cinema. When I left school, I wasn’t exactly an academic student with some grades better than others. I studied at East Durham college to do performing arts because I enjoyed acting and at the weekend, I would take the video camera out and make short films with friends, and then I began to realize that this was what I enjoyed most and discovered the Film and TV production course I am now graduating from.
My philosophy for making films is to tell an interesting story, find the human story and continue to innovate and learn from my filmmaking influences. |

Hi, I’m Nathan and I am so excited to share my work with you! Through my three years of learning at the University I have discovered my passion for producing, but more importantly storytelling. I have been a leading force in many university productions from Live television to short films, I love to build a project from development and take it right through to distribution. I am inspired by the works of Michaela Coel, John Huhges and Ken Loach, they all have revolutionised film and the art of storytelling. I cannot wait to leave education and enter the industry back home in Scotland, there is surge in filmmaking there and I want to be there to ride the wave! I hope you enjoy the hard work me and my fellow filmmaking colleagues.

Showreel I am a 20-year-old student, writer, successful twitch streamer, content creator and aspiring studio floor manager.
One of my passions is streaming and I first started streaming on twitch in September of 2020 where I have been able to grow my profile, meet and collaborate with many other influential creators. I first started writing in 2016 when I wrote a Star Wars parody script that I mailed to George Lucas. Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, I received no response. My next project will hopefully be a 10-minute short film screenplay set in World War 1 about two German Officers caught in a ‘going over the top’ attack under British fire. With the skills I have learned from the degree I hope to be able to go into production sometime soon. |

I'm a self-employed film and visual effects producer. From age 12, I started working with poor-quality phone cameras and nerf guns, shooting (in both senses of the word) homemade zombies and monsters. I later found my love for animation and stop-motion techniques to add to these films. I spent hours every day, for weeks, hand animating mega blocks figures which has led to building my own sets, develop personal film projects with the skills learned through the course alongside all the self-taught techniques I have developed throughout the years - carpentry, cinematography, lighting, editing and 3D modelling design and effects compositing.
